Happy 2010!
Happy New Year Friends and Family!
This is my first post of 2010 and I feel extremely excited about the new year - heck the new decade! The aughts were pretty terrible from a historic perspective, but I have a lot of good things to show from them! I graduated college and graduate school, moved to D.C., got my first real job working on Capitol Hill, got involved in politics and D.C. events, met the most handsome man in the world - who then proposed to me!, got married, gained another amazing family (I love you Supples!), bought a house, went on some wonderful tropical vacations like to the Caribbean and Hawaii (touched the Pacific for the first time), got involved in church and I now grow daily in my relationship with God, experienced some great career advancement, became an Auntie/Godmother, and I am living my happily ever after! Things are going pretty well. However, even though the aughts were amazing, I have a feeling the next ten years are going to be pretty awesome too!
This New Year's Eve was wonderful. After working a very quiet day in the office, I headed home and got dressed in warm cashmere for the New Year! We then joined friends for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Cafe Mezzanote! After dinner we all came back to our place to play games, drink champagne, count our blessings, make resolutions, and count down to 2010! It was a fun and laid back New Year celebration!
On New Year's Day, we traveled down to the D.C. area to see our friends, Chris and Katy White's new house and to play with the dogs! We also watched a number of football bowl games. Dogs and football!?! - Chris was on cloud nine! The following day we watched a number of great basketball games, Chris was so excited about Pitt beating number 5 ranked Syracuse and I was happy to see UK beat our state rivals the University of Louisville! It was a great day for basketball!
On Sunday, Chris went out to watch the last Steelers game of the season with his buddies and I asked Santa's elves to help me take down all the Christmas decorations. Apparently elves like for it to be Christmas all year so they refused to help and I was left packing all of our decorations away carefully by myself. Chris came home and said, "It looks like some elves were busy in here." I said, "No, it was all me." He was impressed!
We went to church on Sunday night and our Priest gave a great homily about the Epiphany and how the three kings were from far lands, with pagan religions and even they recognized that an amazing and powerful person was born on Christmas. They followed the star to Jesus, and were surprised to find him in such a humble dwelling, but they were confident that he should be honored and treated like a king.
I hope you all had a fun New Year, and I look forward to creating more happy memories with you in 2010!
Lots of love,
Bunches of Hugs,
Plenty of Kisses!
