Snowmagedon/The White Doom/The Blizzard of 2010

Hi Family and Friends, I am so happy to report that Chris and I are doing fine despite these record breaking snow storms! Actually the last round of snow is happening right now as I type. I'm looking out the window and it is near white out conditions! The wind is blowing with fury and tiny snow flakes are flying with great speed through the air! I see some neighbors who are gallantly trying to launch an early attack on the snow - God bless them! Here in the Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. area we RARELY get this kind of weather and it shows in the road crews efforts. We have an insufficient number of snow plows so they are using bulldozers. Most major roads have only one to two lanes open. Even scarier, sometimes a lane on the interstate will just go away - consumed by snow. This leaves drivers drifting back and forth across lanes at about 50 mph. I have only driven these roads during the day so luckily traffic is low and the sun is out. I couldn't imagine driving these normally packed roads in the dark hours of morning rush hour! Metro managed to just get its above ground tracks cleared yesterday, and today with this next foot of snow they have moved most of their trains back underground. I question if we will be able to go to work at all this week. While I enjoy working half days in my PJs or comfy clothes, I am starting to lose track of the days, and I feel confused! I'm not used to spending this much time with Chris without a beach and family involved! It has been wonderful though. We have tackled the snow together, had our own super bowl party, devoured perfect brownie pan brownies (another pan is going in today) and for Valentine's Day Chris got me the Mario and Sonic Olympic Winter Games - video game! Only two more days until opening ceremonies! We do plan to host an Opening Ceremonies party on Friday!!! I'm so excited! One of my friends asked if we had any parking with all this snow! Chris said, "You mean you aren't going to take a dog sled?" Luckily, for our friends without dog sleds (all of them) we have a well cleared parking lot up the street and we will happily shuttle people to and from our house from that parking area! There is so much snow here, I'm not really sure where we are going to put this extra foot! The snow mountains are already so high!!! Maybe we can celebrate the Olympics by doing some Moguls through the neighborhood! In our Bible Study last week, Sister used this phrase "GODISNOWHERE" to talk about God. You could read this a number of ways. One guy in the class read, "God I Snow Here!" Another way is "God is No Where" and the best way to read it is, "God is Now Here!" God is in us and among us. I saw God in action around us as our fellow neighbors worked together to get our cars cleared from the big snow! Sometimes we tend to look up when searching for God when really we should be looking inside us and around us. I love you all, and I'm so glad God has put you in my life! Have a great rest of the week! Love, Bethie
