Back to Reality!
Dear Friends and Family,
After being spoiled in Jamaica, we managed to survive our first full week back in the real world! It wasn't easy, but at least it was busy and the days flew by! Last week the initiative I am working on at State Department was introduced to the public by Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates. You can see an article covering the event here (if you are interested) www.politico.com/news/stories/0410/36092.html. It was really exciting and encouraging to hear the Secretary speak so passionately on the issue. As the former president of Texas A&M and member of the Intelligence Community, he strongly supports the kind of reform our task force is presenting.
By Friday night I was ready to relax! Chris took me to dinner at Outback so I wouldn't have to cook! What a great husband!
On Saturday night I got to meet my sister's bestfriends Sanford and Heather. They also live in Greenville, SC but were in Annapolis this weekend for a wedding. I offered to babysit thier 13 month old daughter Elizabeth so they could go to the wedding. What a little cutie! Elizabeth and I had so much fun playing with her toys, reading books, playing with/eating our dinner, and as a new walker, she was exploring EVERYWHERE! I don't think I sat still until after she went to bed at 8:15pm. What a fun time! I also think she thought I was Sara the whole time!
Sunday was a great day for relaxing! We went to evening Mass and our priest gave a great homily on the Trinity. He said when he was graduating from Seminary his teachers asked him to explain the trinity in the simplest terms possible. He said, are you trying to fail me?! After a moment of thought he explained it to his teachers in this way: He chose a man in our parish and asked him, "Are you a father?" The man said, "yes." He said, "Are you a son?" The man said "yes." He said, "Are you a husband?" The man said, "yes." Our priest said, "I could go on and on, but the point here is that you are all these things and just one person. In the same way so is God. He is the Father, the son, and the holy spirit. I thought that was pretty good - and I guess his teachers thought so too!
I hope you are all having a great week!
I love you!
