Hi Friends and Family!
It's been a busy week since last Wednesday. This week, our wonderful neighbor let me and Claire take a dip in his pool. It was so much fun! Claire loved being pulled around the water in her new life jacket! She smiled and kicked her legs as we moved around the pool. It was a great way to spend a hot morning!

On Thursday, Claire and I were invited to a meeting with my former colleagues from the White House Task Force on Export Control Reform. Since I was pregnant for most of my time working on the Task Force, everyone was excited to finally meet Claire. The Task Force now meets in the White House Conference Center across the street from the White House. Claire was very well behaved at her first meeting and enjoyed putting faces with the voices she heard for 9 months in utero!

On Saturday, I drove back down to D.C. for my wonderful friend Meredith's baby shower. My former boss and Meredith's current boss - Anne Northup, hosted the shower at her beautiful Capitol Hill home. Catherine and I co-hosted by helping with food and decorations. We had such a fun time throwing the party, and lots of Meredith's friends came! I'm SO excited for Meredith. She is due to have a little girl in September! Claire is also very excited. She can't wait to have another playmate!

On Sunday, my talented friend Dava came up with her beautiful family to visit and take more pictures of Claire! Dava always does an amazing job! Despite the 100 degree heat, Claire did a fabulous job modeling on the beach and then rallied for more photos when we got back home to the air conditioning. We wrapped our photo shoot at a great BBQ joint up the road called Adam's Rib! It was a fun visit, but Dava and I are determined to get together again when we can spend more time at the beach - maybe it will be back in the 80s by the end of September?!

amazing pictures of my seashore baby:
This week Claire is sitting up for a lot longer on her own. Here's a video of her playing while sitting and then eventually toppling over!

Claire has also started to pucker her lips and blow spit bubbles. It's my least favorite new trick because she does it sometimes when I'm feeding her - imagine a green bean geyser directed at your face! I might have to consider investing in a poncho!
As a parting shot, here's an out take from our photo shoot: Ha!
I hope everyone is having a great week!
Love,
Bethie
What great pics!!! I need to meet this friend of yours so she can teach me how to get out of auto on my camera :) She's doing great with sitting up - Nicholas definitely can't last that long - although holding up 24 lbs must be tough at his age - hah!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha..yes, Julie! Nicholas certainly has more work to do when sitting. Your kids are adorable, I can't wait to see them again. As for my friend, she did some online photo classes and she uses some photo editing programs too. I'm always impressed with what she ends up with because the photo shoot is a mad balance between fleeting smiles, costume changes, and finally the "I'm done with this cry!"
ReplyDeleteI of coarse love all the pictures of sweet baby Claire, but one of my top favorites of the lot of them is the out take picture of Claire with that adorably goofy smile. :-D
