Getting Ready for Thanksgiving!

Dear Friends and Family,

Now that we are a family of three airfares (Will is free but Claire is over 2), it's become financially impractical to fly home for Thanksgiving.  This makes me so sad because before last year, I think I was home for every Thanksgiving of my life!  It's always been my favorite holiday because it's about family and food.

So, I was lamenting to my mother-in-law that we would be without family on Thanksgiving and then she mentioned checking with my sister and brother-in-law about their plans for the holiday.  They live about 4 hours away in Portsmouth, VA. Luckily, they had no plans and were happy to travel.  So this year we are hosting Kelli, Kes, and Lukas, and I am so excited to see them!

Taking a page from the Grandmother handbook, I have already set the table and labeled which dishes will hold what foods.  With these tasks already done, I'll have less running around to do on Turkey Day!
Thanks for teaching me to do this Grandma Strategier!

And Kelli told me that Grandma Grace labels her dishes ahead of time! What a great idea!
Claire has been helping me clean and get ready for our company...well sort of!
She definitely knows how to make a bigger mess so everything looks cleaner at the end of the day.  These are her puddles to jump on around the living room. I was instructed NOT to move them!  Hmmm...
She's also a big help with unloading the dishwasher. She is great at putting away the silverware, until she sees her stack of cups and decides that a cup tower is a much better way to spend her time. NOTE: it makes it even more exciting when Mommy doesn't notice her putting water in the bottom of the cups...the game just got a little more dangerous!

When I vacuum the living room, I move almost everything off the carpet and into the kitchen, including Will in his bouncy seat.  Claire decides she will keep him entertained by dumping all of his toys out of the yellow bucket and into his lap!

Luckily, Will agrees that this is a great idea!
Just when I think Will can't get any cuter, I put him in my mom's lederhosen and...

...you're welcome!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy thanksgiving!
Love,
Bethie
