Much Needed, But Not Planned, Rest!

Dear Friends and Family,

You know when your schedule is busy, and your days are full, and you are having so much fun, but then you reach a weekend where you can rest, and it feels so good? I had planned for the fun to continue this past weekend with a trip to Virginia to see friends, and my new niece, Lina! Unfortunately, Will woke up on Wednesday night with a viral bug.  That immediately cancelled our plans.  Fortunately, Will recovered in 24 hours and the rest of the family managed to avoid catching what he had.

While I'm still disappointed that I didn't get to see our friends and family this weekend, it was nice to take it easy.  We filled our days with play-doh and coloring.  Both Will and Claire are becoming more independent with the play-doh, which makes it more fun for me! I can get some chores done while they work on their creations!
Play-doh at 8am!  I was setting the bar high for that day, but they played happily until almost 10am!
Claire made her princesses some play-doh gowns.
After Will had fully recovered from his bug, I gave him a nice long warm bath.  He came out nice and clean and very excited to watch one of his favorite movies, Tangled (Repunzel)!
Here's a video of him!  I was trying to catch him singing along with Repunzel, but he got distracted by the light on my camera, and checking to see if it was dark out yet, and the pumpkin bread.  Such a cutie! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7wfx8AAXUM

On Sunday, our friends Chris and Lily Scheve came over for lunch, and to take our crib home with them. Now that Will is sleeping in his big bed, we no longer need it. AND they are expecting a little girl in February!  I was so happy to give our crib to friends so I didn't have to lament parting with it or feel tempted to fill it again. Instead, Chris and I were happy to gift it to some great friends.
Soon-to-be big brother, Jack and Will  had fun playing with fire trucks.
Later on Sunday, Claire and I did some pumpkin carving!  We both had fun despite saying "Ewww...gross!  So slimy!" the entire time we carved.

Her hair is pulled back and she is ready to dig!
Starting to carve!
Will cheered us on, and begged us to chalk with him.
The final result!  (Go Cats!)
Our spooky front porch!
The weather was in the mid 60's so we tested out our Halloween flash lights and took a walk around the neighborhood.
I had to take this picture of the house with the almost full moon rising behind it!
This year our family is hosting the Island Halloween party in our driveway. It should be lots of fun...but pray for us!
I hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween!
Love,
Bethie

  1. Good luck with the neighborhood hosting! It makes me tired to think of it. Does the HOA bring the tables, crockpot, electric cords and cups, plates, & napkins? Have several garbage cans set up for easy cleaning and maybe a cleaning station for messy hands to avoid people asking to use your house. Love you!
