It was an incredible weekend! Kasey and Erica invited us over to celebrate both the Derby and Erica's father's birthday. They made some incredible baby back ribs on their smoker/grill! Then they offered us a ride on their boat! We had a blast!
Playing our horse racing game! We only pull it out on race day so the kids LOVE it!
Claire practices painting with Kasey's mom, Pam!
Chris and Kasey - sitting on Kasey's pier
Will and Ellie liked that the boat had a clubhouse and a TV!
Me and my sweetheart!
My other sweetheart!
Yep, that's Claire driving a boat! Kasey was super nice to let us take turns driving. He was so calm in teaching her that I told him he can teach her to drive a car too!
On Sunday, Chris took Will to a soccer game and I took Claire to church. During the outdoor Mass, which was also another First Communion, I looked up to see a big cross in the sky! I felt like God was letting us know that he was with us.
God was watching our Mass this weekend! I looked up and felt that his message was pretty clear! Will's First Communion wasn't this weekend, but I did just get the pictures from the event! I love this one!
After church and soccer, we quickly changed into swim suits and headed out on our kayaks. The kids and I had a great time kayaking and are getting more excited for summer break by the minute. Our neighbors just got an outdoor big screen TV. They invited us over after dinner to watch a movie in their backyard. With the longer days, we are having fun packing in the activities.
Will started by riding on the front of my boat!
Then he decided he needed to cool off and slid off to discover the water is only waist deep
- maybe 3 feet!
So he went over to ride on Claire's Kayak!
Then he and Claire changed spots for a little bit!
In the end we decided that having an extra person on a one-man kayak is like having an anchor! So we just picked up a kid kayak at Sam's club. Chris and I can take turns taking the kids out, or we can just bring the kid kayak for playing at the beach!
Speaking of the beach...we got to see our May visitors begin to arrive:
The Horseshoe crabs are coming to spawn!
My friend Sarah, bravely picks one up to show the kids!
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and as President of the PTO, I put together a plan for the week and was so impressed by the number of super helpful parents who came to my support! We transformed the stage in the cafeteria into a camp site! The teachers love the work we put into the theme and are enjoying a week full of fun. I think it's safe to say that we have lots of happy campers at school this week!
I'll close with the big news that I was just offered a job! I was asked to interview for the position of Sacraments Coordinator at my church. My initial reaction was to pray about it, but it only took about a minute of prayer before I realized it would be a perfect fit! I interviewed for the position today and they offered to bring me on right away! The job is part time and very flexible/family friendly. The main sacraments that I will be in charge of are Reconciliation and First Communion.
I hope everyone is having a great week!
Love,
Beth
